What makes a great product demo video?
A great product demo earns the right to show features by leading with the problem they solve. It shows the product actually working, in a real context, before it lists what it can do. The weak ones invert this: a feature tour with no reason to care.
The viewer is asking one question the whole time: would this make my work easier? Every second that does not move toward an answer is a second you lose them.
The elements of a strong product demo
The problem first
Open on the friction the viewer recognises. Ten seconds of "here is the painful way it works today" buys you the next sixty.
The product in motion

One outcome, not ten features
Pick the single capability that matters most and prove it well. A demo that covers everything is remembered for nothing.
What holds product demos back?
Narrating the interface instead of the benefit. Pacing built for the person who made the product, not the person seeing it for the first time. And no clear next step, so a viewer who is sold has nowhere to go.
How the Impact Awards panel judges this category
The Best Product Demo category at the Shootsta Impact Video Awards 2026 is scored against five criteria: creativity, business or social impact, innovation, best practice, and collaboration. The entries that win are not always the most polished. They are the ones that can show what the video was for and what changed because of it.
