What Are Video Production Credits?
Last updated 27 October 2026.
Video production credits are prepaid units that a business buys up front and then spends on video work such as editing, animation and creative services. Each type of job costs a set number of credits, so the team knows the price of a video before it starts.
Credits replace the separate quote that most agencies send for each project. You agree the volume once, and each request then comes out of your balance, so nobody has to raise a new purchase order.
How does credit-based video pricing work?
The provider publishes a credit cost for each kind of job. A short edit might cost fewer credits than an animated explainer, and extras like rush turnaround or extra language versions have their own rates.
Before you sign, ask three things. Find out which services the credits cover, what happens to unused credits at the end of the contract, and whether filming days are priced on credits or separately.
How Shootsta handles it
Shootsta runs editing, animation and creative services on credits. Shoots with a Shootsta videographer are priced on their own.
Credits must be used within your contract period. Rush turnaround is available when you need a video faster than the standard 48 hours, and it is quoted separately.
