Types of videos

Are you aiming to inspire, educate or entertain with your videos? Raise awareness, engage and nurture, or convert viewers? And are they internal or external? No matter your goal or target audience, there’s a type of video to suit you; corporate videos or commercial production, social media videos, explainer videos and more – you name it, we’ve helped make it happen for our clients!

Animated videos

Aveeno’s bite-sized social media video is an excellent example of how to make your point efficiently, effectively and with flair. This short explainer video not only introduces the skin’s microbiome and implications for dry skin, but also leverages an expert ‘piece to camera’ and communicates its key product feature and benefit — with the help of animated elements that grab and hold attention for extra polish. And all in 20 seconds. Impressive!

Business updates

Grab app’s G!News business update video multi-tasks an event highlight reel, a 2-person interview and early company news on COVID-19 — complete with an original musical interlude. While a longer video, it maintains its momentum thanks to a high-energy presenter, good b-roll and a little humour during the team’s coronavirus-inspired song. It also functions as a strong workplace culture piece, showing it’s possible to spice up potentially dry business news with related content, in order to ensure a great result.

Promotional videos

Classic Fine Foods’ promotional video for visiting their cuisine partner, Menú, starts with a question to hook viewers: ‘Can you get premium ingredients #outofthecan?’ Ensuing shots of chefs preparing and cooking ingredients in Menú’s Italian factory provide the answer (yes!), the high-quality cooking cutaways and drone shots of in-season harvesting helping to tell the brand’s story, alongside compelling 1-person interview footage. The video concludes by bringing the content back to its audience, with a reference to speciality vegetable ingredients now being used for dumplings in China.

This video was filmed at Shootsta’s Singapore HQ, and is a great example of how corporate shoots can form the basis for entertaining, engaging content – with a little creative flair!

3 top filming locations in Singapore

Marina Bay

The Marina Bay area will give you two of Singapore’s most iconic shots: to the east, Marina Bay Sands, the tri-towered marvel housing what looks like a boat but is actually the building’s three-acre SkyPark; and to the west past the Central Business District (CBD), the city’s most popular portrayal of its official mascot, the Merlion fountain at Merlion Park. Pro tip for filming in Singapore – heat and humidity can make lugging gear difficult, so overcast weather and avoiding 11am-3pm shoots are your best bet.

Gardens by the Bay

For capturing Singapore’s exotic side, Gardens by the Bay’s tropical design-led gardens are a lesson in green artistry. Its Bay South area includes the photogenic ‘Supertrees’ (16 storeys high!) and Flower Dome, complete with festive lighting after sunset. Visually, the garden has a futuristic, architectural feel, so it’s great for videos that speak to building or future-planning. Gardens by the Bay is also conveniently located just around the corner from Marina Bay Sands – simply head west.

Arab Street & Little India

For a welcome dose of urban culture and heritage, head to Singapore’s vibrant Arab Street and Little India, where you’ll find grand mosques and temples, cool street art and the one-of-a-kind ambiance that comes with street vendors trading food, textiles, spices and gorgeous golden wares. Amidst the crowds, footage has a ‘real’ Singapore feel; the only downfall is the background noise, so make sure you’ve got your microphone(s) and audio sorted before you go.
