So our biggest news over the last month is #LinkedInLive – LinkedIn’s new live-streaming tool currently available to select members, like Shootsta Video Evangelist, String Nguyen! 🙌 It’s been a massive 12 months for LinkedIn in the video space, and with the platform’s organic algorithm favouring video content, it looks like video on LinkedIn is well and truly here to stay.
Not surprising, given the classic stat: “By 2021, 80% of the world’s internet traffic will be video“.
LinkedIn Live is now in beta, and slowly being rolled out (from LinkedIn: “We’re currently piloting live video streaming with a few broadcasters, so the feature isn’t currently available to all members)”. Shootsta is lucky in that we get early access through our partnership with String, who is not only 1 of 20 people worldwide to get access, but also the only LinkedIn Live user outside the US. 💪
With String as our guide to the wonderful world of live-streaming on LinkedIn, we dove right in – kicking off our first stream with Shootsta CTO, Tim Moylan, and following three weeks later with GM of ANZ, Daniel Chiha, with positive community traction and insightful Q&As. As of Friday 12 April, String and Tim’s LinkedIn Live had 8,416 views, 254 reactions, 166 comments and 9 reshares; not bad ROI for top-level prep and 25 minutes of each’s time.
We’ll continue testing and learning with LinkedIn Live over the coming months, but so far? From an awareness perspective (obviously, coupled with String’s considerable online pull), our pilot experience has been encouraging.
